Shri
S. Shankaranarayan I.A.S, Director, P. U. E Board, stated
that the board is fully prepared to face the challenges of
the upcoming P.U Board exams. He pointed out
that neither the C.B.S.E nor any other state boards could
match the level of transparency regarding examination results
as shown by the Karnataka State Board. He was addressing the
student body of Christ Junior College on the occasion of their
College Day on 10 January 2010. The College Day celebrated
all the achievements of the college this academic year. It
was a day when the college felicitated its top achievers and
provided a forum for students to showcase their myriad talents.
Shri Shankarnarayan laid special emphasis on the quality
of the Karnataka P.U course, which due to its well-thought
out curriculum and syllabus, was on par with the C.B.S.E
course. He advised parents to take children into confidence
when guiding them on their future goals and it was received
with much gratitude by the students. He encouraged the students
to make the most of every day and to not fear adversity.
The function was presided over by Fr. Dr. Augustine Thottakara
CMI, Rector of Dharmaram College, Chancellor, Christ University
and President of the Christ Educational Society. Dr. N. Pushpa,
Senior Medical Officer, Dept of Preventive Healthcare, Sagar
Hospital, was the Parent Invitee. Fr. Dr. Thomas C. Mathew,
Vice- Chancellor, Christ University was the Guest of Honour.
The annual report of the college was presented by the principal
which was a cartography of the institution’s innovative
approaches in delivering its services as an educational institution.
He credited its success to the institutional culture, channels
of communication between different stakeholders of the institution
and the collaborative practices of the College.
State toppers of the College in the previous year’s
pre-university examinations, the best cadets of National Cadet
Corps, the best volunteers of the Centre for Social Action
and the best sportspeople of the college were felicitated
by the P.U board director during the formal programme. The
Value Education Programme scholarships were also awarded on
this occasion.
The formal function was followed by a cultural extravaganza
by the students of all the twenty-eight sections of the
college. One of the highlights of the day was a violin piece
performed by music prodigy, Anish VidyaShankar, an alumnus
of Christ Junior College. A contemporary adaptation of Oedipus
Rex, a play by Sophocles was also staged on this occasion.
