Experiences of the top scorers of II PU Board examinations 2013

The students of Christ Junior College have made the Institution proud by scoring highest marks in Science, Commerce and Social Sciences streams in the recently held II Pre University Examinations 2013, conducted by the Department of Pre University Education, Karnataka. Christ Junior College wishes to place on record their achievement by congratulating the toppers of all the streams. Below are some of the experiences shared by some of the highest scorers:

Parnika Pavanram has secured 4th Rank in Commerce stream in the state of Karnataka. Christ Junior College congratulates her on this great achievement. Below, Parnika has shared her experience.

It’s a great feeling and a feeling unique to Christ Junior College, it’s the feeling of being recognized however dramatic or insignificant your act of excellence may be. It has always been an inexplicable feeling of joy to have my achievements acknowledged.

But as a famous line goes – your true well-wishers are those who stick by you through thick and thin. All my teachers at Christ Junior College have stayed true to this and have never ceased to motivate, support and boost my confidence even when the outcome wasn’t as favorable. To this, I’m forever grateful and these teachers have always had and will continue to have a special place in my heart.

My parents have always been the hands tirelessly working to support every dream of mine and my sister has been a guiding force since my schooling days. It is to my family that I dedicate every last ounce of my success because quite often it is these people who are taken for granted.

Quoting Vince Lombardi “The price of success is hard work, dedication to the job at hand, and the determination that whether we win or lose, we have applied the best of ourselves to the task at hand”, it is by these principles that I have always worked and this I would say is the reality in any given scenario.

Parnika Pavanram | Commerce Stream | Total Score: 588

I am very happy about my results... This achievement belongs not only to me but a lot of people who have helped me at every step... First of all, I want to thank my parents for their love, motivation and support which withheld me in every situation of my life... Then of course my teachers for their guidance without which this achievement was not possible... Then, all my friends who have helped me anytime and everytime... My preparation was nothing special... A month before exams I suffered from chicken pox because of which I couldn`t write my 2 preparatory exam... But then everyone encouraged and supported me... I studied for 4-5 hours everyday... Music and friends were my stress busters... I always desired to get a state rank in board exam... And my dedication and hard work paid off... I am satisfied about my results.... I just believe that self-confidence and hard work is the only way to success...

Christ Junior College was the college I had always dreamt of studying in and the two years that I spent in this college has been the best two years of my life. Christ College has been instrumental in enhancing my soft skills and making me a self reliant individual through its various activities, sessions, clubs and associations. The teachers with their constant support and guidance have brought out the best from within us. I express my heartfelt gratitude to my teachers, counselors and parents without whom I couldn’t have achieved what I have achieved today. The most important thing I have learnt here is “hard work is the only key to success”.

Nanditha S Shenoy | Commerce Stream | Total Score: 583

First of all I would like to congratulate all my friends who have cracked the exam with flying colors and I wish them all the very best for their future. At this moment, I would like to express my thanks to teachers, God and parents for their consistent support in guiding me. Without them, this achievement would have been difficult. And I shouldn’t forget thanking my friends and classmates, class teacher Mr. Anu V Zachariah. The amount of time spent in studying doesn’t really matter. Even if it’s half an hour a day, it isn’t worth unless you are concentrated. Relaxation was a must. …………………….And now I’m marching out into the world well prepared as a Christite with joy!

Jeevan D C | Science Stream | Total Score: 579

I feel elated about my performance. I worked really hard to get to this point. I attribute this result to my teachers and parents. I will always be grateful to them. I hope to pursue medicine and this score will surely boost my confidence and I wish to inspire others too. There is no shortcut to success. The only secret is to have an aim and work towards it - is what I believe. All those hours of study has certainly paid off today. I thank each and everyone for my success. It was stressful initially to balance tuitions and college but with passion and my parent’s support it was easy to overcome all of it. The mantra is - The harder you work, The luckier you get. I also wish to congratulate my counterparts on their performance. Once again all thanks to my wonderful teachers for making me what I am today.

Gone are the days in a blink of an eye leaving behind the most beautiful memories of two golden years of my life. I entered this vast or rather majestic campus like just another girl but now as I stand tall, I can confidently quote that I am common person with an uncommon determination. Christ Junior College provided with everything that a student would ask for, be it in academics, sports or any other co-curricular activity. Every event had something new in store for us. This institution also taught me that ‘Honour lies in honest toil’. A person with a strong determination, dedication and perseverance can be stopped by none is what I have learnt through this experience. It is only with the constant support and motivation of my parents, my teachers and God’s grace of course, I am the person who I am. I wish, though we change with time, the Christite spirit survives…

Kshiti S Rai | Science Stream | Total Score: 577

As I fondly look back at my two years in Christ Junior College, a multitude of emotions and memories flood my mind. These two academic years have been so much more than merely “academic.” Being a social science student, the emphasis was always on co-curricular and extra-curricular activities as much as on academic growth. The exposure and opportunities offered were immense. Whether it was group discussions and panel discussions in class or larger events such as CJCMUN, activities by the SSA, class culturals, Bangalore Science Forum Lecture Contest, or even writing book reviews for Perspectives, every event has been a wonderful learning experience. Participating in these activities ensured that I maintained a healthy balance between academics and co-curricular activities. Rev. Fr. Jose C.C. and the entire faculty of the Social Science Department have been more than encouraging and supportive, for what I have achieved today and for this I will forever be grateful.

Heart beating fast and mind racing….. This was my state as the clock struck 5 pm. No sooner than the clock struck 5 then my phone ringing, brought me back to reality. It was my friend alerting me that the results have come out. As soon as I saw my results the feeling of anxiety was washed over by a feeling of immense relief. Securing a total of 93.5 percent was so far my biggest achievement in academics. I was also extremely happy to note that my highest marks were in psychology, a subject that is very close to my heart and a discipline I hope to pursue for my higher studies.

There is no magic formula to secure high marks in examinations. Hard work, enjoying what you learn and staying calm will do the trick. And even though this may sound a bit clichéd, paying attention to your teachers in class also goes a long way in helping you to remember your lessons. People often say that you have to take a hard decision to choose between covering all the portions and focusing in depth on prioritized sections. I believe that you need to do both – breadth and depth help you to be better prepared and leaves with the much needed confidence that you can tackle any questions that come up in the exam.

It would be amiss, if I were to take the entire credit for performing well in the pre university examinations. Many hearts and hands guided me in this journey. My teachers in college were a constant source of motivation and support. My family and friends were always there in good times and difficulties to support my spirit and cheer me up. Having two model examinations, even though it seems unreasonable and too hectic at the time goes a long way in helping the students to study and prepare well for the main examination. It is also critical to review your performance in model exams and find your strengths and weaknesses. Finally, staying calm under pressure is the mantra for success. All I focused on was to give my best and not to think much about the results. Sincere efforts and commitment will always bear fruits.

Krishna Gopakumar | Social Sciences Stream | Total Score: 561

I am very happy about my achievement. I attribute this success of mine to my incredible teachers and my family. I got immense support from my family as they did not put pressure on me. I did not attend any tuition centre as I was never interested in them. I relied completely on my teachers. My immense concentration during classes along with sitting back to take help from teachers and a couple of hours of self-study was all what I did throughout my course. My ambition is to get a Ph.D in Mathematics and become a Mathematics teacher as I feel it is one of the very few professions which give you satisfaction. I am very grateful to each and everyone from Christ Junior College for making my stay in the institution a pleasant and unforgettable one.

Jaiprakash R | Science Stream | Total Score: 579

I am extremely surprised at all that’s happening around me lately. So surprised, that I wasn’t even ready to write a paragraph like this. So here it goes very spontaneously, I was a normal kid in Christ for the first year, but when I was chosen to be a class rep in my second year along with Krishna Gopakumar, I was terrified, but she has taught me through her bravery and charm that anything is possible if one is integrated and courageous. My parents have always been supportive and would love me even if I ate dirt instead of honey, that’s their greatness, along with the silent but confident love from my brother. My brilliant genius aunt has been my hopeful ever brightly known North Star along with my beautiful grandmother and endeared cousin and uncle. One of the most influential driving forces was and still is Dr. Father Jose C.C who is truly the most encouraging personality that I’ve met so far, who has been more than a Principal but a guiding current to my ship lost during the storm. I’ve grown as a person and have learnt intricate essentials from fellow companions in my batch as well as from entrancing and captivatingly unforgettable teachers who are Mr. Xavier Louis D’Souza, Mrs Dolly Martin, Mr. Kanishka K, Mr. Deena Dayalan, Mrs. Soumya Jason and Mrs. Sumaiya Saleem, I love you all to the moon! My class teacher Ms Reva George has changed most of my bewildering moments into exciting experiences with direction. But a very strong force from among my teachers has been Mrs. Minakshi Manoj, who has indeed shown me that only people who slug it out despite the heat of oppression can succeed, she makes French fun and alive with anecdotes and ‘tips and tricks’. Studying for my finals has by far been the biggest and interesting challenge I’ve faced. You must take each exam as a challenge which you must destroy, walls you must break through to get to the gold at the end (accomplishment). I’ve made notes and lists of lessons and split apart books as never before, it was a fever, in spite of being unfortunate enough to skip my second pre-boards. It was fun to take education as one of life’s games. Knuckles and joints of mine ached while writing and my back hurt too. It was enjoyable for me, as if watching myself on TV as a movie. Christ Junior College has pushed me with its endless assignments only to help me fight those real battles with much stamina. I have not enough space in this paragraph to say what every single person in this institution means to me, but I can only say that my life will never be the same because of their impressive impressions upon my curious mind and translucent soul. At last, all my successes I’d love to give as gifts of appreciation and affection to my greatest role model in this life, the ever humble and extraordinary Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll. And to whosoever is reading my story, I would like to tell you that life is a beautiful balance of struggles and joys, time your strategies well!
