It all started as a dream! 'only if I could top the state' - this was the feeling in me. 'AIM FOR THE MOON' YOU WILL FALL AMONG STARS' this was true even in my case. Finally, I made it to the top ten (Sixth in the state). I swear by hard work and an indebted to Him, my parents and teachers. I firmly believe in the adage, 'Nothing is Impossible'. Determination and perseverance were the words that echoed in my ears throughout. The greatest obstacle was this feeling - 'I can't! Suppressing this feeling and convincing people around me that, I can was a difficult job. But with dogged determination and conviction I set out and am glad that I made it.

Marks do not determine our ability. To survive in this competitive world, there is a dire need for us to be competent in all fields. Keeping this in mind, I participated in many competitions and co-courricular activities. I am passionate about public speaking, music and painting. I have secured the first place in inter-school extempore competition organized by ISRO and debate organized by LIC. Being the Head Girl of my school (Poorna Prajna Education Centre, Indiranagar) helped me develop leadership qualities and taught me how to be enterprising. Many colleges in Bangalore offer good education but restrict us to books. It is the Christ Junior College that offers excellent coaching and also provides a platform to portray our talents, thereby ensuring holistic development of every Christite. I do realize that I have a long way to go but as of now I am a cheerful and proud Christite!

Congratulations to Mr. Arun Kenath of Department of Physics for honourable mention by Gravity Research Foundation, USA this year for his essay entitled "CURVATURE, PHASE SPACE, HOLOGRAPHY AND BLACK HOLE ENTROPY".
I would like to firstly say that earning the 4th rank in the state has been an extremely exciting moment in my life. I shall cherish it forever.
It took me completely by surprise because I had wanted to achieve 85% only. So when I saw my marks I couldn't quite believe my eyes and it took a while to sink in. But looking back, now I don't think that I should have been surprised. As I have said many a times it was not hard work but smart work that helped me. I am not very studious but I study what interests me and I ask many questions that are subject related. Also, there is absolutely no parental pressure at home.

The extra curricular activities at CJC kept me on my toes and kept those little grey cells working. An idle mind is a devil's workshop rings true in this context. I'd like to close with my favourite line from a book called Fountainhead -" I don't build in order to have clients. I have clients in order to build." This is what, Howard Roark, the protagonist says and I think there is something very important to be learnt from this. I too studied not because I had to but because I wanted to and when I felt I must. I did not ask for advice on study patterns and I indulged in my favourite hobbies as well.
Thus my only message to all Christites is this always do what you LIKE to do in life. But think carefully about what you really like and the consequences of your actions. This is the only path I can suggest.

Just to share my feelings when I got to know about my marks…..

I felt on top of the world when I got to know my marks and particularly about the fact that I had secured 100% in two seemingly difficult subjects-Mathematics and Statistics. Tears rolled out of my eyes as I was unable to control my emotions and I stood speechless for a couple of minutes not knowing what to do. It took quite a while for me to believe that I had indeed achieved, being the topper in college and having stood Vth in ranking at the State Level.

I believe that the relentless hard work that I put in right from the beginning of the year and the dedication with which I attended all the classes paid off and yielded the results which is there for all to see. My advice to the juniors is that they should work very hard and in a planned manner and make use of the excellent coaching and the facilities which our college offers. They must take each test/exam as seriously as possible and give it their best shot so that their confidence levels would improve and equip them to handle the final exams with the greatest ease.
